Church Hill, Mom shoots cap gun in K class…..NUTS!
April 19, 2007 on 6:43 pm | In Parenting, The News | No CommentsAmazing. The day after VA Tech, a kindergarten mom allegedly goes into her kid’s class and while the teacher has her back turned, points a cap gun and fires four or five times at kids. What are these people thinking? In case you don’t understand. This is stupid. Not to mention illegal. The woman is facing a jail sentence and fine if convicted.

The NBC Nightly News
April 19, 2007 on 12:01 am | In The News | No CommentsWell, I have to say Brian Williams and Pete Williams did a decent job of being decent in airing what they did on the NBC Nightly News about the Cho “manifesto.” Still, I hate to see this kind of thing getting air time. It will only lead to others thinking to do the same thing. Mark it down.
NBC and the Cho photos
April 18, 2007 on 11:50 pm | In The News | No CommentsThe photo J class I had in college 20 years ago would have likely recommended not showing these photos of Cho that NBC has decided to release. I don’t know what good it does to have this stuff in the public domain. If Cho had sent photos of the carnage, would they have released those, too? Somehow, I wouldn’t put it past them. Help me understand what good it does for the rest of the world to be able to look down the barrel of this killer?
From DaddyClaxton
April 18, 2007 on 3:38 pm | In Parenting, The News | No CommentsAs a dad who thinks about this stuff every time I send my kids out the door, I keep coming back to the conclusion that Monday’s tragedy could not have been prevented save some incredible divine intervention. In light that it did happen, I only have a deeper faith that God had a reason for letting it take place.
I’m in search of positive support comments across the Net from other Dads. I’ve found some good ones. The president, James Ragland, and even a professor from VA Tech who specializes in reporting crime statistics. If you know of more, please let me know of them and I’ll be glad to post the links.
And guys, don’t forget in the morning to give your kids an extra hug before they leave…..

Another Fatherly comment from TDMN James Ragland
April 18, 2007 on 3:31 pm | In Uncategorized, The News | No CommentsAs the father of a son soon bound for college, I also am wondering how we as a nation will respond to this senseless tragedy. How will we absorb yet another deadly rampage at a place where bright young minds gather to learn and dream?
James is a good friend who I’ve worked with for five or six years. Read his column here at The Dallas Morning News.
More Fatherly Words of Wisdom: Chicago Trib Editorial
April 18, 2007 on 3:24 pm | In The News | No CommentsFrom The Chicago Tribune editorial page: Forensic psychiatrist Carl Wahlstrom of Chicago’s Rush University Hospital says our own survival instincts sometimes alert us to people whose odd speech or actions suggest that they’re succumbing to ideas that aren’t grounded in the real world. Simple as it sounds, he says, “If you see someone losing touch with reality, don’t treat it casually. Anything can happen.”
What will Wahlstrom tell his own son, now a high school student, when he leaves home for college? First, to listen to the inner voice that warns each of us away from dangerous situations-but which might have offered no protection Monday against a disciplined, methodical and well-prepared slayer. “Second, I tell him now that I really love him, and if anything happens, I want him to know that. If I’ve done that, and taken the proper precautions, what more can I do? Home-school him through college?”
Supremes Affirm Ban On Partial Birth Abortions
April 18, 2007 on 2:25 pm | In The News | No CommentsA victory for abortion opponents. Supreme Court affirms ban on method, but not the practice.
Collective Soul’s Shine
April 18, 2007 on 2:11 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsAccording to roommate reports, Cho was regularly listening to Collective Soul’s 1990s hit Shine…. Heaven let your light shine down….. I looked up Ismail on Wikipedia, the man was an early leader in Iran famous for war and conquests. There also was poetry written. As far as AX goes, no luck there. Others, too, are searching for a meaning, but what are the chances one will be found? Guess I’ll listen to Collective Soul a little differenty from now on. Guess they’ll know how Charles Manson made The Beatles feel about Helter Skelter…..
Ismail Ax, OPE POE, all the same….
April 18, 2007 on 1:49 pm | In The News | No CommentsDoes it have to have any meaning that a normal person would understand? Ismail Ax. Remember Dr. Strangelove’s Gen. Ripper? Purity of Essenence, Peace on Earth…. By the way, ismailax.net and ismailax.org are still available…..
